Verizon and Disney collaborate to give Verizon customers a whole free year of Disney+

Verizon and Disney have gotten together and in a joint statement revealed that Verizon will be offering to all of its new and existing 4gLTE and 5G unlimited wireless customers a whole years worth of free Disney+.

This is a way for both companies to benefit from the joint venture. Disney will be able to build up its early subscriber numbers. For Verizon it will add a great perk to garner customers as the competition heats up for both streaming media companies and telecoms whose strategy for media marketing is just a bit mirky right now.

At&T and Comcast each have developed their own successful media venues. However, Verizon on the other hand has seen its success in the media landscape gradually grow less in scope and intensity in spite of its investments  procuring Aol, Yahoo, then merging both companies with Oath and then rebranding them under the name of Verizon Media Group which also owns TechCrunch.

As such, It makes good business sense for Verizon to collaborate with Disney+ even though it’s just on a promotional level.

In this collaboration deal, Verizon customers will have access to everything that Disney+ has to offer which will include the Star Wars television series, ‘The Mandalorian’ which a lot of people have been looking forward to. Plus customers will also have access to 25 more original films snd documentaries. There is a three hour-long teaser trailer on YouTube you can watch to see everything that will be coming with the service: ‘ Basically Everything Coming to Disney+ in the U.S.  Start Streaming November 12’.

In a statement to TechCrunch, Verizon Chairman and CEO Hans Vestberg said that Verizon’s goal of giving its customers this access to Disney+ whatever their platform of choice is, shows the commitment of the company to provide the best premium content through its partnerships.

Vestberg also shared that this commitment goes beyond partnering with Disney+ and extends to bringing the power of 5G Ultra Wideband technology to the entertainment industry.

So Beginning November 12, Verzion will become the exclusive wireless carrier offering Disney+ to all its new and existing customers for 12 months free. According to TechCruch this offer will also be extended to customers who have Verizon’s new Fios Home Internet as well as 5G Home Internet. After activating their Disney subscription at that time, customers can start streaming on smart televisions, game consoles, and streaming media players.
